Letter from the PTO

Dear Parents,

We have a great new fundraiser! Take a look at our new online ink and toner supply store. That’s right, you can now show your support by buying products that you need from us. Proinkstores.com has made it possible for us to raise money through the sale of ink and toner online. We are excited to be working with them. They have exceptional service and offer the highest quality products available online. In fact they take care of all the responsibility. They fill and ship the orders right to you and guarantee their products with a 100% money back guarantee. Our organization simply promotes our site, by asking for help. We then receive a portion of all the sales that go through our groups online site. We have tried the products and have been very satisfied, we are sure you will be as well. Take a look and see how we can save you money on your ink and toner purchases while supporting us at the same time. The funds raised from this program will be used to help cover the costs of your childs classroom needs that are outside of the normal classroom budgets.

If recycling of ink cartridges is a concern, our school offers a recycling program that the school benefits from also, all you need to do is drop off your empty cartridges or send them in with your child.

PTO Minutes – January 12, 2010

Richmond Consolidated School

PTO Minutes

January 12, 2010

Attendees:        Jayson Tanzman, Julia Russell, Jenevra Strock, Michelle Smith

  • Julia Russell presented Treasurer report.
  • Barnes and Noble night was not very successful, we only raised $95.00 compared to last years $700.00.
  • Discussed the need to do a spring fundraiser.  We will do the PTO ink store fundraiser.  Julia spoke with marketers and had her concerns addressed.  We will run a blurb in the newsletter.
  • Again addressed the issue of not having a board for  next year and enough parent volunteer for the craft fair.  We have begun a new plea for parents to get involved.
  • Mrs. Strock presented a listing of the class field trips and the monetary requirements for these trips.  The faculty agreed to once again have the PTO work with the class parents to coordinate fundraising efforts.   We will look to fund-raise as a whole to cover the costs of the class trips (excluding the 7th and 8th grade trip).  Julia will work up some numbers so that we have a clear understanding of the funds needed for next year.
  • Michelle Smith requested that we provide the Pre K and K classes with the PTO class donation at the beginning of the school year due to the lack of funds for those two classes.
  • The PTO will produce Family Contribution envelopes for next year that

includes a check-off  list of PTO coordinated events for families to volunteer.

  • Mrs. Strock suggested that we hold a gift wrap fundraiser next fall she has had numerous requests for that from individuals.
  • Julia Russell suggested that we might sponsor a fundraiser for the music department.
  • Jayson Tanzman will coordinate the House Number fundraiser in conjunction with the new Fire Chief.

Meetting adjourned at 7:00pm.  Next meeting is Tuesday February 9, 2010 at 5:45pm.

Needed: PTO Board Members

As we begin our second half of the school year, we really need to address a very serious problem that the school is facing- no new members on the PTO Board.

The PTO raises funds to supply the children of the school with various items that the generous, yet limited school budget cannot give to the school. Each classroom teacher is given $10 per child for field trips each year. This doesn’t pay for a whole trip, but does help in the overall costs. Last year they helped out with scholarships for various field trips. They also give each classroom teacher $50 towards supplies for the classroom. They have bought sketchbooks for art classes, printers for classrooms, lunch trays for the kitchen, books, etc.

In the past they have organized collections for a climbing wall in the gym, and twenty picnic tables so the children can eat outside in the nice weather.

We are looking for some parents to help out with decision making for monies already raised and help with new ideas for fundraisers.

The PTO meets once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month, just before the School Committee meeting at 5:45. Please come on the 12th to see how you can help. We are looking for a co- president, a secretary and a treasurer. We are also looking for someone to coordinate the room parent program. Maybe you can’t commit to a monthly meeting, but would be willing to volunteer for a particular activity, give the office a call.

As I look at the future of the PTO, I am worried that we won’t be able to have this quality program for next year. Without volunteers for this worthy committee, a very valuable tool to the school will be lost. Please reconsider and donate your time to this program.

Thank you,

Jenevra Strock

Letter From the PTO:

We have a great new fundraiser! Take a look at our new online ink and toner supply store. That’s right, you can now show your support by buying products that you need from us. Proinkstores.com has made it possible for us to raise money through the sale of ink and toner online. We are excited to be working with them. They have exceptional service and offer the highest quality products available online. In fact they take care of all the responsibility. They fill and ship the orders right to you and guarantee their products with a 100% money back guarantee. Our organization simply promotes our site, by asking for help. We then receive a portion of all the sales that go through our group’s online site. We have tried the products and have been very satisfied, we are sure you will be as well. Take a look and see how we can save you money on your ink and toner purchases while supporting us at the same time. The funds raised from this program will be used to help cover the costs of your child’s classroom needs that are outside of the normal classroom budgets.

If recycling of ink cartridges is a concern, our school offers a recycling program that the school benefits from also, all you need to do is drop off your empty cartridges or send them in with your child.

Thanks for all your support.

School Committee

Description

A school committee must be responsive to its constituencies in governance, sensitive to the diverse needs of all learners, an advocate for students and learning before the people of the community and, as such, a vigorous ambassador for public education before all citizens.

-Massachusetts Association of School Committees

The School Committee for the Richmond Consolidated School is dedicated to overseeing the policies, operations and budget for the school.  While the School Committee does not direct day-to-day operations or resolve routine issues — those are among the responsibilities of the superintendent and the principal — the Committee oversees school-related issues in a very broad sense, and is committed at all times to acting in the best interests of the children.  Its primary responsibilities are to establish the educational vision and goals for the district, approve the budget, establish policies for the district, and hire and evaluate the Superintendent.

The School Committee is composed of three elected members of the Richmond community who serve staggered three-year terms.  The current members of the School Committee are:

Lauren Broussal, Chairperson (413.698.3461, broussal@gmail.com

Christine Triantos (413.698.2421, ctriantos@nycap.rr.com)

Dewey Wyatt (413.698.3875, dmwyatt@nycap.rr.com)

Meeting Calendar and Format

The Committee meets monthly throughout the school year, typically on the second Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m. in the school conference room.  The public is always invited to attend.  The meetings for the 2010 school year are scheduled for the following dates:

January 12
February 9
March 9
