CAP Concert Performance

What amazing voices we have in our lower grades! On Tuesday, we had the CAP chorus of grades 3-5 perform for the school. We have some talented singers warming up in the wings to join the 6-8 chorus in the future. Thank you to Mrs. Joy Mullen and Mr. Peter Serkin. Mr. Serkin once again donated his time to practice with the children and accompany them at their performance.

A repeat performance! Sam Lyons won the raffle drawing for Principal for a Day and Kyle Stasiewski was Vice-Principal for a Day. Both gentlemen did a great job running the building on Wednesday. The raffle was held to support the Kenya Connect Project.

Go Green Night

Some of the night’s festivities will include: a performance by Grades K-2; a guest speaker to discuss the topic of organic lawns; information on the new community garden; and, various hands-on activities for kids. We’d like to raise some startup money for the community garden by raffling off items or services. If you have a service or item you’d like to raffle (babysitting, flower arranging, gardening expert, Aunt Maudy’s vase) – let us know. Also, would you send in empty egg cartons to be used for seed planting?

Yearbook

The 2009-2010 Richmond yearbook is coming to it’s first deadline, Friday Feb 12th which is only 10 days away.  All sports photos have to be to Ellen Campbell before that date. You can email them to her at ecampbell@richmondconsolidated.org or put them on a disc and send that in to her at school.  The more photos we get of our students the more of a treasure the yearbook will be, especially in years to come.  If your child participates in a sport outside of school and you have good images of them please send us a copy.  I know there are kids out there doing swimming, skating, ice hockey, lacrosse, dance, gymnastics, basketball and many other sports but they are hardly represented in our past yearbooks.  Help us get them in this year’s book.
If your child is in 8th grade ask them to show you their yearbook page. Some students have not even started and may need some inspiration to get going.  Imagine if in ten years your child pulls out their yearbook and sees an empty page under their name? Help them get it done this week.  It’s important. Thanks for any help you can give us, Regina Serkin and Ellen Campbell
